At WebcastAV, we feature two primary methods for encoding and streaming web media. The first process is called GEO Java. Media published in GEO Java format can be experienced by almost anyone with any web browser.

The second process is called RealMedia. Content published in RealMedia format can only be experienced by users who have installed on their computer a special player "plugin." A free version of the plugin can be downloaded from the Web, or an upgraded version can be purchased in stores.

Bandwidth refers to the speed of the user's Internet connection.  Is your audience mostly home users connecting over plain old telephone lines? Are they corporate users that have an ISDN or T1 connection? For more information, see Your Audience Profile.
